Green Tips for Your Car Carpool. When you buy your next car, look at the MPG rating. The higher the miles per gallon, the better. Drive the speed limit. Avoid stopping to driving. Follow your car's recommended maintenance schedule. Change your air filter regularly. Run all of your errands in one trip. Make sure your tires are properly inflated. Excess weight makes your car work harder, so just lighten your load. Dispose of motor oil properly. Telecommute or work at home when you can. Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.
