On the Twelfth Day of Telework my Parents said to me, Nice to See you Virtually

All good things must come to an end. Today is our last day of PGi’s telework series. Throughout the series, we have brought to you all the ways telework has helped us increase productivity, achieve worklife balance and reduce some of our stress during this busy holiday season.

I hope some of the stories made you laugh and maybe think about some of your own telework stories. It’s important to remember that telecommuting provides a sense of freedom that in turn makes you a better employee. But, the advantages also extend outside of the workplace. Although online meeting tools are wonderful to use in the office to collaborate with others, they can also be used to keep in touch with family and friends.

Since moving to Atlanta from Jacksonville, I’ve been doing a lot of driving back and forth. Coming in at a little over six hours each way, I’m exhausted just thinking about it. Having a restless 3-year-old dog in the backseat only makes the journey seem longer. As a result, my fiancé and I have decided we’re not going home for the holidays.

Although I’m not going home, I don’t want to miss out on all the memories. I still want to see my family gathered around the living room and see my niece and nephew open their presents. Luckily, I work for a company that can make this happen. For over 20 years, PGi has given people state-of-the-art tools to meet.

iMeet makes it so easy to virtually connect with anyone. Once I sign-in to my iMeet room all I have to do is send an invitation to my dad. Once he receives the email, he clicks on one button and then he is instantly connected. Over the past few months of living in Atlanta, I’ve been able to watch my niece and nephew sing and dance, give my brother a virtual tour of my new apartment and see my best friend’s new baby boy.

It’s really special to have the ability to be a part of special moments like these. When I left Jacksonville, I was afraid that I would miss my family too much and my niece and nephew wouldn’t remember me. But with iMeet I can see any of them anytime I want. A colleague of mine, Bob Bush, also uses iMeet to stay in touch with family during the holidays.

Be sure to check out our various products that you can use for business and staying in touch with family.

We hope you’ve enjoyed the 12 Days of Telework. Happy Holidays.
