4 Ways to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day as a Teleworker

Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone! Even though today is not an official holiday, millions of people will be celebrating throughout the country. In fact, a whopping 83 percent of Americans will be wearing green clothing today in honor of St. Paddy’s Day traditions.

Some offices are getting into the spirit as well. Wearing green, decorating offices and sharing baked cookies and cakes topped with shamrocks are just a few things you might see throughout offices today.

As a teleworker, you may be feeling a little bummed that you don’t get to participate in the office fun. But don’t get too down. We’ve come up with 4 tips that will help you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day without ever leaving your home.

1.      Go Green

Green is definitely the color of the day. Some cities even dye their famous fountains and rivers green for the celebration. Traditionally, those who are caught without anything green on can expect to get pinched.

So make sure you incorporate a little or a lot of green into your clothing for the day. If you want to be a little more extreme, you can even dye your hair. Just remember, keep your webcam off during any important meetings. ration. Traditionally, those who are caught without anything green on can expect to get pinched.

2.      Play some Irish music

Many people like to listen to music while they work. This can be a challenge if you’re in an office with others. You are usually forced to wear headphones or have your music so low that even you can barely hear it.

So take advantage of working from home and play your music as loud as you can stand. To get into the festive spirit, you can play some Celtic, folk and other traditional Irish pub songs. The background music may even help increase your productivity.

3.      Decorate your virtual office

Just because today is St. Paddy’s Day doesn’t mean the work stops. You are probably still scheduled to attend or host several meetings throughout the day. In this case, have a little fun with your virtual office. Online meeting tools like iMeet allow you to customize your virtual meeting experience no matter if you’re hosting a meeting or joining someone else’s.

If you’re the meeting host, feel free to edit your meeting URL and the name of your meeting room to something inspired by St. Patrick’s Day. If you’re joining another person’s meeting, change your profile picture to something a little festive. You could show off that green hair, or your green clothes.

4.      Attend Local Festivities

Check your local paper for any local activities that may be taking place. Now that the work day is over, it may be nice to get out and see what celebrations are happening in your neighborhood.

How are you celebrating St. Patrick’s Day? Whatever you choose to do, may the luck of the Irish be with you!
