PGi CTO David Guthrie Wins Lifetime Achievement Award at Georgia CIO Awards

We are thrilled to announce that PGi CTO David Guthrie was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at today’s prestigious Georgia CIO of the Year program, hosted by the Georgia CIO Leadership Association.

David joined PGi in 2003 to help with PGi’s technology strategies—a special request by PGi founder, chairman and CEO Boland T. Jones. Since then, he has been a pivotal driver of innovation and global excellence for PGi, contributing to PGi’s transformation into a global unified collaboration provider and the market-leading innovations that continue to drive the communications and collaboration industries forward.

“David is a leader and a risk-taker,” Boland told the Atlanta Business Chronicle. “He is willing to take a chance on something or someone. I’m always struck by how his gamble pays off. And when he takes a risk that doesn’t work out, how quickly he moves on to the next challenge. To me, that’s the sign of an innovator and leader.”

David is the innovator behind PGi’s hybrid, global VoIP collaboration network and flagship collaboration software solutions, iMeet® and GlobalMeet®. Working together with PGi’s leadership team, David has contributed immensely to transforming PGi into what it is today: the world’s largest pure-play provider of collaboration software and services, with over 50,000 enterprise customers, including 75% of the Fortune 100™.

“None of this would be possible without the 2,200 PGi associates around the world or PGi’s innovative leadership, who constantly strive to invent products that help simplify peoples’ lives by transforming the way they work,” David said. “Whether it’s healthcare, finance, marketing, technology or government, businesses and workers everywhere deserve technology that provides a consistent, productive and powerful experience that ultimately streamlines processes and accelerates revenue.”

David was joined at the event by his family and PGi’s leadership team.

David was honored alongside the brightest technology minds in Atlanta, including PGi’s own customer, Aaron’s Inc. VP and CIO, John Trainor, who was named CIO of the Year in the Global category.
