Here at PGi, every single success and accomplishment we make as a company is a direct result of the hard work and dedication of our employees. Just recently, we celebrated Michel Dobnikar’s silver Stevie Award for Woman of the Year, and I am pleased to announce today that yet another exemplary PGi employee has been recognized for their outstanding dedication to their craft. Jeffrey Cooper, Senior Counsel, recently received the Dealmaker Award at the 2017 Corporate Counsel Awards sponsored by Atlanta Business Chronicle and the Association of Corporate Counsel, Georgia Chapter.
Jeff has been with PGi for 18 months, and while that may seem like a short time, he has proved to be a deal-making powerhouse and an integral asset to the PGi team. Jeff’s role at PGi entails structure transactions to minimize legal risk and helping to maximize deal profits while supporting his sales team throughout every step of the deal-making process.
Jeff attributes much of his success to the outstanding team he works with:
“…I think my success is… measured by the ease with which my sales team can raise issues to legal without fear that doing so will be a hindrance to getting their deal closed.
We are often faced with tight deadlines and competing priorities. We have a very active and dedicated sales team, and that can result in very legitimate last-minute needs that must be addressed to get deals closed. There is obviously no better ‘problem’ for a company to have than too many deals, but it does mean that communication between legal and sales management is important.”
Jeff’s contract team closed more than 400 deals in North America in 2016 alone. Like many at PGi, Jeff cites his colleagues as a great source of positivity and motivation in his day-to-day work life:
“Far and away, the best aspect of my job is the people. I can say without hesitation that I get to go to work every day with people that I genuinely like. In a team environment like ours, victories are sweeter for having done them together. I have never had a boss as knowledgeable, supportive and available as our general counsel.”
The award is indeed well-deserved, as Jeff’s colleagues have noted:
“Jeff is a warrior to help my sales teams get their legal language, negotiations and ultimately closed deals across the finish line.” – Christine Pavalon, Vice President for Field Sales Central and Canada, PGi
“PGi business owners have praised Jeff in his role for his being a round-the-clock worker with an upbeat attitude. Praise does not always come easily for in-house lawyers, but Jeff and his team work tirelessly to provide value to all of the departments.” – Michele Nelson, General Counsel, PGi
A hearty congratulations is in order for Jeffrey Cooper. Thank you for all of your hard work and for being a living, breathing example of our core values and why being part of the PGi family is so great.
